Banking transaction security procedure imposed by the DSP2 directive in Europe. It relies on at least two of the following three factors: something you know (password), something you have (phone) and something you are (fingerprint, facial recognition).

Before a card transaction can be finalized, it must be authorized: this is confirmation that the card used is linked to an active account with sufficient funds. This authorization is sent by the cardholder’s bank to the merchant, via a payment processor that facilitates the transaction.
